We like to go away for the Xmas for a couple of days, but not sure if we can do it due to health reasons.
Retirement is okay except you don't have the dosh that you had when working. Also gets very boring in winter when you cannot go out as often as you would like.

We have been caravanning with two children since they were 1 & 2 yrs old and we have always gone away all year round. Alot of sites are open all year and not just CC sites. We tend to go away once a month in winter and we always go for New Year as we cant get a sitter and its too expensive to go out New Yrs eve. We go to a site which isnt cheap, but, has faciltiies for young children and theres a lovely leisure club with pool/sauna/steam room and soft indoor play area for kids. I dont see the point in spending all that money on a van only to use it a few months of the year. The roads and sites are quieter and the weather often dryer in Winter, Octobers been great in comparison to Sep which was a washout! If you have heating in your van then I would definatley give it go. The site we go to is called Holgates at Silverdale near the Lakes, its not the cheapest of sites but it is top notch and great for a special treat. We love it that much weve sited our van there til middle of March 2012 then we can go every weekend in winter and the weather wont matter.
