I like the new Olympus 540-5, bunks are 6ft 1 in length and plenty of headroom which we need for our son whos already 5ft 9. The Olympus would work for now but I question how bunks will work in a couple of years time for us.

Hi, my feeling is that you should go for the best layout for you all now. With families, who knows what the future will bring? Get the layout you and the children enjoy using the most now, and change the van as and when you feel the need to a few years down the line. The more the children feel comfortable now, the longer they'll want to keep comingh with you (assuming that's what you'd like lol).

I've had a look at most and still like the Olympus 540-5 or the Rimini. Like the washrooms in both.
Savanne, if you look at the Bailey website, the bunks come out as 6'3" - see here. Whichever van you buy, you won't get a lot bigger than that, IMHO. I'd check it out in 'real life' though too.
One of the singles in the Rimini is 6'4" in theory - see here.
I don't know if this helps much, but the lengths may be worth checking out.
Rimini definelty out unfortunately as too heavy and too expensive.
Thanks for those links David, I wonder what the weight limit on the bottom bunk is. Must weigh our 15 nearly 16 yr old son, hes tall and thin and seems taller everytime I look at him!!

I did try and look for weights, but couldn't find anything. Why not email Bailey customer services? I'd trust them before a dealer, TBH. Try: helpline at bailey-caravans.co.uk - you'll know what to do when the ampersand comes up as 'at'.
According to dh, 75 kilos on bunks. But says he would sleep on it and he is 90 kgs, because he would be laid out and not putting all his weight in one place.
We went in during NEC and an older chap called Tony was covering. He was helpful. Met Jason at NEC. They seem a nice bunch but I do sort of feel that they all have that *salesman* attitude, so handle with care ;)
We have a 4 berth side dinette which works well for us, but then there is only 3 of us. Our dinette is the sort with the fold out bunk, and the top bunk would not be suitable for older children. We have taken the folding bunk out which makes the bottom bunk wider and plenty big enough for our (now) 15 yr old. Fine for 3 but not for 4. We also have weight and access to the garden issues, which preclude alot of vans for us,
I guess this is a dilemma most parents of teenagers face eventually - most of the time they wont want to come with you but you have to have provision for when they do. I'm guessing your daughter doesnt like the idea of her own tent outside or in the awning, Our son actually prefers his own tent these days, but I think having room in the van for him eases my mind in case the weather turns really nasty. The tent thing is great when they want to bring a friend though.
I'll be interested to see what you come up with!
------------- Im no cactus expert, but I know a prick when I see one!
When our boys reached their teens they no longer wanted to stay in the caravan with us , they slept in tents or annex off the awning. They had good quality sleeping bags. And loved their own space.

OH will be at the Bailey factory tomorrow (he maintains their tel system) will get him to ask. Its quite handy really!!
I did read 75kgs for top bunk and I presume the bottom one will be the same.
Fee, can you remember who you dealt with at Northam Farm? OH talked to a chap called Dan today who was very helpful.
I think asking Bailey direct is better than asking the sales people. It's the sales people/dealers who sometimes want to 'sell the van at any price'. Keep us informed of the progress - we are a nosey lot aren't we - perhaps i should re-phrase that as 'I' am nosey!! [:))]
anniemac, we are considering a Pegasus 514 with the side dinette layout and we thought we could take the top bunk out as its only held on by a few screws. The weight saving will be a big bonus. However we wondered if then with the gap left where the folding bunk stored would this mean the bed cushions our daughter would sleep on loose and move about as no longer sat snug against the folded bunk. Not explained that well but do you see what I mean?
The 514 has such a huge front bed that our son will happily sleep (we've discussed it with him) on one side of that still leaving loads of room for us and the unique way the beds make up mean we can get up before him (as is the norm with most teens!!)slide one side of the bed back leaving him undisturbed. We will then have one of the long front seats free to sit on til he surfaces!!
