Well we successfully have used our 54 CM one [as link] down to the Pyrenees and throughout most of France other than the French Alps, where we have not taken it yet.

But we have a good quality Humax Freesat decoder, which might be a contributing factor.
In the Pyrenees we did once have pixelation during a very heavy rain storm, but hearing the TV, or each other was also impossible due to the noise on the roof.
Can I use an old Sky dish to get the Freesat channels on my new television which has Freesat built in.
Jim
Yes, the only reason it might not work is if you tried to use it too far from home; like well into France. Size matters but if it worked for SKY then it will work for Freesat.

Hi Leebo
We use a Maxview 66cm portable kit when caravanning in the UK and in France. It worked beautifully at Du Letty last year. I know that you're hoping to go there in 2012 as I've just replied at length to your post about Du Letty in the Overseas Section.
It just so happens that I'm selling a BRAND NEW & UNUSED Maxview Kit identical to the one one we have. 66cm dish, tripod, LNB, Sat finder and all fittings in a strong carry bag. (Everything except the SAT receiver)
Tripod - one of these (with the line removed) upside down and pegged down. Someone on here uses and recommended this; it's worked well for me for some time, and I've seen others with them!

I use a normal sky minidish and a tripod. However, I always peg it down with a few pegs and those rubber peg strap thingy's.
I've never been able to fit the dish to the jockey-wheel, as we've never had the van facing the right way to do it! so the tripod is handy.
I would also recommend buying an extra coil of cable for emergencies, one camp site in Wales we went to, the dish had to be about 40 metres away from the van because of a huge mountain in the way!
