Caravan 2009 Bailey Senator Louisiana We purchased a 2012 Kampa Rally Pro 390 after years using a Dorema President Vario full awning. The Dorema was a really excellent awning but so heavy and time consuming to move about and erect, and a bit on the large side considering most of the time only two of us use the caravan. Previously we would lose about two days of our holiday just erecting and taking down the Dorema, and then there was the inconvenience factor of having to wait for a fine day to take down the Dorema towards the end of our holiday, which frequently did not coincide with the actual day that our holiday finished. The only option there was to pack away the canvas awning and to erect a 390 Suncamp nylon one in it's place to accomodated all the junk that we had taken with us. So the question was, did we just make do with the Suncamp on all future holidays leaving the Dorema at home, or look for something similar to the Suncamp of a less flimsy construction. The great quality of the material and relative light weight of the Kampa were the first things that initially impressed us, together with the ease of erection. Naturally there had to be a compromise, and in the case of the kampa we wondered how we would fare using an awning no larger than a porch awning constructed of what appeared to be heavy duty nylon, whereas we were used to a three and a half metre deep full size heavy duty canvas awning Our fears were completely unfounded as the Kampa has afforded us more than enough space for up to a month on site, and the heavy duty material has withstood really poor weather conditions including gales and very heavy rain. On the downside the Kampa (in common with all awnings constructed of synthetic materials) can suffer with the occasional condensation, but we have found that to be a cheap price to pay when we take into account all the positives. One thing that I would say if that if anyone is considering the purchase of a Kampa Rally Pro for long term used they would be well advised considering buying the storm poles, the side buffer poles and the tie-down belts at the same time, as these optional extras most certainly contribute to a more rigid awning So to sum up, yes the Kampa has definitely improved our general caravanning experience and quality of life.
