I did! I went to BPW in Germany. They supplied two new chassis rails to "protect their reputation2. I paid to have them fitted. Off the record they said that Geist had specified the thickness of the chassis material (weight saving!) This has proven inadequate - as we all know now. Try BPW in Germany - they're on the 'net. Good luck! PS google translator is very useful here!
Hi, i've been following this thread with butt clenching interest, i have a 2005 LV555 and contacted NE Camper uk at Birtley Gateshead, i gave them my van build number and asked if they could use there contacts at LMC and they have conformed it has had the chasis upgrade.
Phew!
------------- I Started with nothing and have most of it left!
Hi, well good for you Ofat1(!) the 555 did indeed have a recall, we mere mortals with 485's are ones questionable!
Another lady with a 485 had her insurance company pay up as in their opinion was there had been an impact. So, take your pick 485 owners and don't give up!
Adrian I have an LV485 which is showing signs of cracking in the fridge cabinet. can you please send me any info you have with regard to getting it fixed.
Hmm., I would worry that if it is the fridge enclosure, it is because the chassis has allowed movement. I would check the chassis very, very carefully, especially around the wheel area. It has been said by others that the first sign they had of the dreaded fracture was movement around the fridge. That's about all I can think of...
Hi - I have just bought a 2004 lv535. I have been reading some of these posts and have discovered that I am also having issues in/around the kitchen area. I checked the chassis and discovered a large crack above the wheel area. I bought this caravan privately - can anyone advise me what I should do. Is this fixable or is it a right off. Thanks in advance. George
I'm sorry, but you've bought a lemon. Unless you can get new chassis rails, it is knackered. I wonder if the seller was aware?
I really am sorry for you, having suffered and spent many hours research etc., as you can read in this forum post, I got new rails from BPW. I don't know if that is possible now, nor if it is financially wise?
Don't want to sound the prophet of doom, but I've been there and it wasn't nice!

Unlike many other private purchases where it is simply "buyer beware" this could legally be different as it is "not road worthy" and so presents a life/injury hazard risk to others.
I would at least use the legal advice services of the two major clubs if you belong or failing that trading standards or CAB to seek out if there is any remedial legal route.
