Yes and try putting bikes on top of a high vehicle, like the Nissan Navara I have. And taking them off at such a height,-----------------------

Nissan Navara , just put them in the back , or place a step to the side and lift the bike up on the rack

We carry a bike on the back of our Pullman ... no stability problems, have overtaken artics on french motorways at 80 without a twitch.

Also carry Two bikes on a MaxxRaxx.

Used to carry bikes on the roof .... never again ... really ruins airflow, makes us too high to get under the Sanef barriers, a pain to put up and take down ... and rules out the use of a roofbox, which is entirely necessary now!

The bikes on top of our Land Cruiser last year made it ove 3m high, so it registered as an HGV on the French autoroutes (automatc height sensor) so we got charged HGV tolls - didn;t realise until we got home!

As has been said already, make sure that the van has the correct mounting points for a bike rack. A lot of british vans are not designed to have rear bike racks fitted. If you do put them on the back remember to recheck your noseweight and bring it back up to the correct value as 35kgs right at the back will have quite an effect on the noseweight.

hi if you notice hgv,s sometimes with a folklift fitted on rear of trailer,this has been known to cause jackknifeing some times,to cure this,some have moved folklift forward inside trailer so wieght is closer to axle,s, so it does make you think if it,s wise to fit anything to rear of van.

Well I am still undecided but i will be towing van without using the rear bike rack for the first few times to see how it handles as it is a lot longer, wider and heavier than my last. When i am happy i know it's movement i might try the bikes on the back, at least then i will be able to recognise any strange movement etc. thanks for your thoughts.

I'm new to caravans and were unsure how I'm going to transport two bikes and what bike racks I need to buy. Would having them laid across the front made up double bed be an option so weight is away from the rear or even one on that bed and one on the rear fixed bed. Any thoughts welcome.

We turn the handlebars on our two bikes (easier to get through the door) then prop them up between the front bunks. Sheet to separate and protect woodwork, then bungee firmly in place. Place something else to fill the gap. Never had a problem over many years.

Ours came with bike rack on front frame.
Also can use MaxxRaxx
