Try and find the trip switch again , make sure the heater is off, it should be located under the wardrobe you will need to lift the shelf out, gently run the flat of your hand over the drum you will feel the surface change its like a dent really. push in when you feel it, now turn the blow air heating on .

If it's an older van the unit might need a service could be blocked and that is causing it to trip out .

The cover is the same on them all so it's there! only where you press is not cut out on the original ones so it cannot move, in truth it only moves about 2mm when it is cut out so difficult to tell!
So what year is the van and or what model fire is it fitted on? is the fire front like the one in the picture?

As for where these switches are fitted?, clever ones are in plain sight and obvious like next to the control switch, daft ones like my own are hidden? I only realised I had one when I looked up while kneeling on the floor...it was hidden from sight when stood up under a shelf!!

PS, reading the rest of your first post, the Carver gas fires ignition uses the caravan battery, or it is manual piezo ignition, so no you would not find a battery to change.
Also, the carver gas valve only lets gas through in one exact spot so unless you know how to light them your going to struggle!

the caravan is a 1997 elddis mistral vogue 2 berth, i am about to have a good scout round again and see if i can get the blow air heating sorted it blows air out but just cold air, not tried using the gas fire yet, i thought the ignition switch had a small battery in it i did not know it used the caravan battery, going to spend a bit of time on it now i have a clear head and taken on all your advice and fingers crossed i might get it sorted, thanks for all your advice will keep you posted
