imho i do not think they thought you would find it.it could be there to aid assembly in the factory.

Surely if it was an aid to assembly it could have been filled in after to prevent the dip forming. Laying the lino over the top is just hiding the problem until later.
true but whatever it was for it was not filled in duing assembly.i have found many assembly faults on ours that needed correcting, one serious.the large skylight on the front of ours was not fully fixed by the brackets holding it down.only discovered years later when i replaced the interal blind and light assembly trim.a large square hole under the shower tray where the drain hole was and the drain broke through when someone stood on it because it was not fully supported.

There is a bit of history of caravans manufactured by Swift having holes in the floor. If I remember correctly there was a thread on here last year where it was determined that a hole had been cut in the wrong place during manufacture and it had not been rectified correctly.

It may also be a design defect that they are not admitting to as the number of claims could be quite large and would hit their bottom line heavily.

I think my primary concern would be what are they going to do about it and to prevent it happening again.

I would keep pushing to get it rectified. If there is any sort of hole or indent under the lino then in time with people walking over it putting pressure around the edge of the hole then thats going to lead to some sort of breakdown to the lino.

Watching the video link on previous post I can see why my Swift has damp in it. I did'nt see any sealant put between any of the body panels when fitted together !

We have had good news today but we're still a little confused.

My husband phoned Swift to complain and was advised that they had changed their mind again and it was now covered by the warranty and they have instructed the dealer to go ahead with the repair.

It so happened that a Swift area manager went to the dealers this morning and looked at our van and said straight away that this was a fault and he immediately phoned his office and told them the work should be covered.

It would seem that the void above the bolt should be skimmed before the vinyl is laid and this hasnt been done. The plan is to inject resin into the void with a hypodermic needle and allow it to set for a couple of days.

We have requested in writing a letter of comfort confirming what the cause was and that the solution will not cause problems again in the future.

We are so relieved as we really thought this was going to be a long drawn out situation but hopefully this has rectified things and we can get away with our van again knowing that it is safe and the hole has now been filled.

Thanks so much for all your replies and advice it really helped and knowing people out there are willing to share ideas and thoughts really made a difference.

Cheers

Juls
