The 500/1000/2000 settings have as much to do with the maximum current available on the hook up as they have with the output of the heater.
The thermostat will always call for maximum heat to get up to the temerarure. The above settings will limit the input current to around 2A, 4A, 8A. Useful if the hook-up is restricted and / or you want to boil a kettle at the same time f'rinstance.

The ultraheat dial was knocked off by a mirror that had been stuck on by the previous owner with bluetack, unknown by us untill the mirror fell off and I pushed the dial and bits back but it does not feel right I.E. when trying to set to the highest number ,9 I think, the ring feels springy.Does anyone have any gen on putting them back properly ? Dont mean to hijack this topic, just thought I might get some tips on the subject.
