No reason a caravan couldn't go into an oven to bake the paint. I am sure the paint is baked in the factory. For what it's worth, modern paints are all water based and have to be baked so the time when caravan workshops have to use an oven to bake the paint are not that far away at all.
Surely if you put a caravan in a oven the windows would have to be removed ??
This shouldnt detract from the original point, if you buy a caravan new it should a perfect caravan free from any bodge repairs thats the whole point of buying new,if airstream can produce a dent free van their should be no reason why the other caravan manufaturerscant do the same.

Thanks for the various responses folks.
Some interesting comments and outlooks but Bessie has it right.
The bottom line is we buy "New" not "new with hidden damage". If the damage emerges then the repair isn't good enough no matter the age of the van!!
I will try the polish as this is what Duncans, the supplier, suggested to me. They were also adamant that the damge did not occur with them and were very clear in blaming Bailey's.
I have written to Bailey's MD enclosing a picture but I am not holding my breathe for a response.
The comments on the 12 month lapse from spotting it are also very valid but you would have to understand our circumstances to fully understand the lapse. Traumatic times can take up all your concentration. Or maybe it is an age thing?

If there is a claim at this time it is against the seller, but see my earlier comments about the difficulties of proof after the time that has elapsed since purchase.
The Bailey warranty tends to operate on the basis that during the warranty period it will remedy those items covered by that warranty. You are now outside of that warranty period so I am not surprised that you are not holding your breath for a positive response from Bailey. Having said that it is worth a thorough read of the actual warranty document you have for your van. You never know, it may be written in such a way that it operates for any defect that arises during the warranty period rather than for Bailey to remedy in that period. Just a subtle change of emphasis which may mean (if applicable) that they may be liable if you can show to Bailey that the defect arose within the warranty period even though the claim was outside of that period.

i agree . too many people must have more money than sense if they are prepared to put up with a sub standard product and pay top price for it.
no wonder caravan makers get away with it time and time again when theres a queue of folk more than happy to pay over the odds for poor quality
This spring I saw 3 Lunar Clubman CK's get sold with obvious repainted damage ... I was offered one, claimed as brand new. These were all 2011 stock from a bankrupt dealer ... sold on to where I was vieing.
These were being knocked out cheap - no mention of damage - just sold cheap as last years model.
I wonder how those who bought feel about damaged goods sold as new?
Anyone on here found their damaged/re-painted 2011 Clubman CK's yet?
