I would advertise it at £700 less than the dealers at a outright price & put down the mover its a big selling point & anything else your throwing in.

The £700 takes in into the 6k bracket which may give you a better chance

I'd change the heading from:

Swift Challenger 480 Top Of The Range Caravan Two Berth 2006

to:

2006 Swift Challenger 480 Two Berth Caravan with Motor Mover

People who search for 'motor mover' will then find it. The mover should be a big selling point for your van.

Re the price, it needs to show a significant saving vs a dealer, bearing in mind the dealer price will have negotiation built in. If your price begins with a '6' you will have the competitive edge.

Ok I see where you're coming from, if I go into the 6 range will people still want to knock me down, at the price it's at now I'm still open to offers, which is going to be in the 6's.I just though I would of had some interest, if I was buying it and say my budget was less that it is, I would still offer on it.
Does that make sense lol?

If you haven't had any bites it hasn't worked has it. You are close to dealer prices so folks go to dealers and knock them down.
With a dealer you get warranty, back up, serviced probably, valeted, px, credit etc.

They might try to knock you down but you don't have to say yes. Pricing it at say £6900 might just expose you to the chance of getting an enquiry. And if they come to view your half way there. But you need to make a song and dance about the fact that it has a mover.

Good luck.

Seem to be a lot of two berths for sale in the dealers these days. Last time I checked, couldn't help but notice only about three or four second hand 6 berths compared with probably around 30 two berths.

I'm not sure what the spread on sales is in the UK. Quite an interesting subject though.

As a family of four though, we tend to head for a 6 berth van though, just to give a little extra space, and allow for visitors.

Are husbands and wives doing the same thing and going for four, five and six berths to allow for grand kids etc??

Couples are tending to go for the 4 Berths these days, with a fixed bed.

Add a big end washroom and that's what most people want.

I am in the market for a 2 berth - or, a 4 berth .... the 4 berths give you the space and fixed bed generally .... the 2 berth gives you the washroom with wardrobes in etc.

2 Berth buyers are after the big washroom - emphasise that point as much as you can ... the Motor Mover is a definate plus point and worth shouting about (as long as you can show it working of course).

On a personal note .... a Private Sale would have to be at the very least 25% under a Dealer Screen Price AND give an Awning, Bottles, Battery, etc.

The Dealers I have been talking to will knock 10% OFF the Screen Price almost without asking ..... if you have no Part Ex. they throw in a Starter Pack of brand new essentials, they will also put a Motor Mover on at near cost price (£499) to secure the deal. You get a service, a warranty and everything should/will work as it should.

Everything sells - it's just the price that varies.

We have a 2 berth, bought last year and the same layout as yours so def. a market for them.

We were looking at 2 and 4 berths. We don't keep ours at home but it does fit on the drive if we want to bring it back, also didn't want to tow a large van. Ours looks quite dinky when we pitch as some vans are huge! It has everything we need though and is pure luxury after the tent!!

Your van looks lovely, good luck with the sale!

Thanks for all the advice, we are having to change it as my OH has MS, we were looking at the motorhome route, as we wanted ease when coming and going,I don't mind towing and doing what needs to be done if he is ever unable to help me,however hubby ideally needs a fixed bed, 90% of the time he's ok, with just the symptoms that he has to live with, but sometimes he gets quite fatigued, and needs a kip when this happens, and it would be nice for him to have a lay down on a bed in the day and rest if he needs to, and I like the idea of not having to make the beds up everyday tbh. So we've decided a fixed bed is what would suit our needs, this van we buy now will have to be our last van for a very long time, eventually it will be a MH, but as he's still working and able bodied atm, we are just going to change the van.Giving up vanning isn't an option, he's so much better when we get away and relax, and having a fixed bed allows my son to come if he ever wants to ( although at 18 that's unlikely lol) and sleep in the front.
Not what we expected to happen at 40 but hey that's the hand we've been given so we deal with it.And as you can see that's why we have to get as much as we can for it.
Fingers crossed it sells soon, it's nice to have something to look forward to.

We part x our 6 berth last year had it for sale private for six months nothing at all ,took it to the dealers he had 2 couples after it . It was sold as soon as i had give him the keys for 8000pound a 1000pound more than i had got it up for    some people would just rather buy of a dealer for that piece of mind ,he gave me 6000pound and sold it for 8000 .

We have just changed to a fixed bed model and it's very comfortable compared to the rear dinette we had to use on our previous van.

Have you tried the px route to see what sort of price you can achieve. We only had the first van for a few months but still got offered the same price we paid as a px.

Selling with preloved the photos are free. You pay a fee to preloved but that is so you can view ads when they go live and not 7 days later if you are not a member.
Hope you sell soon

Of course you want the highest price ... most of us do.

But sometimes the highest isn't the best ..... if it puts your pleasure on hold.

Look at a part exchange - you may be surprised at what you may get offered, it won't be what you could get private ... but you have nothing the private route and the season for selling is almost over.

Good luck!

we purchased our 2 berth off a friend for a good price we had looked at dealers for the same sort of thing very pricey so buying private worked for us as it was the cheaper option. many people will be looking to save money on dealer prices but as it has been said if your price is only just short of what a dealer is selling and they are throwing sweetners into the deal you may struggle. you may need to consider bringing your price down or possibly a part exchange. as for the motorhome,s they are ok if you don't intend of travelling out when you get  to site as some sites like one we stayed on let you set up and park your car in the car park as they had a security gate that they had to open for access to site which could be a inconveniance. do hope you sell it soon and get a good price for it
