We use Pentewan sands severl times a season & we always see supermarkets delivering on site. It's all very well for people to suggest supporting the local shops but in our experience they're mostly too small to carry much choice.

We will be using the deliveries to site when we work out the best dates to book it but as Lidl, Aldi, Asda 24hrs & Tesco 24hrs are only in St Austell it's never a problem for us to go and do the shopping.

Where are you going in Cornwall?

We've used a delivery service when (dare I say it) stopping in a cottage, on the odd occassion the van stops at home.

We've rarely had deliveries to site though, but I would always check with the site owners first as a matter of courtesy.

The Caravan Club has banned store deliveries to all of their sites, mainly on the grounds of lack of storage space in the office reception area and the fact that they do not allow visitors veichles through the security barriers and onto the pitches.

A lot of other sites have followed suit, some after they were met with sheer rudeness and requests beyond the call of duty with some members getting angry over defrosted frozen foods where the delivery had reached the site office before they had, and where they had expected the wardens to find space in their own freezers for such goods to keep them in frozen condition.

Personally, i always take just enough food with me to last the first 24hrs on site, then use a mixture of local shops and the odd supermarket to stock up with goods as and when needed, ensuring the freshest and finest goods hand picked for quality and leaness, home baked bread from the village bakeries, and often fresh fish bought off the docks which has been freshly landed that morning.

To me this is all part of the holiday fun, we eat far too much supermarket cardboard packet food whilst at home.

Isnt buying your holiday food etc part of the holiday? I always find it useful to visit the local places on Day 1 and find out what there is/isnt

Having your shopping delivered?? Why not have your caravan towed there for you too. Seems a tad on the lazy side

That's very harsh,as other people have said they might be disabled.

Yes we often have deliveries to site. We use Tesco's.That said it is only ever to the entrance. You can leave notes on the website for them to ring as they are approaching. We have 3 kids and wouldn't want to drag them round shopping when on holiday. We only order the main items which means we can still use the local shops for the extra luxuries. we do the same when we go to centerparcs. One word of advise always make sure you have at least one nights food. We had booked ours for 5pm on the first night.(which included our BBQ Dinner). They didn't turn up!! It turns out that their printer failed so the driver didn't read the bit about calling us and couldn't find the site. They came the next morning and knocked off £30 off the bill.

I am an online driver buy the way for sainsburys,we deliver to well over 1000 people a week, are all these people lazy? what crap.
Anyway i am going to st ives, and seeing as the caravan will be quite loaded, i was thinking that i would have a small amout of shopping delivered to sight, not a 10 day shop!!!!Just so it would take the hassle out doing it when i got there. its only a 350 mile trip for me.I too like nothing better that buying local food and ales to sample why i am there.

A great idea having it delivered if the site allows it, saves on weight too on the way down, less to worry about too.
