Well at the moment the ban seams to be at the discretion of the sites wardens, we have now moved further south and although this small CC site is fairly quiet during the day, come 6pm its worse than a banger racing track with some very dangerous stunts being pulled out of sight of parents by youngsters on bikes and scooters, and some dressed in no more than a bikini or small pair of shorts, I hate to think of the horrific grazes these kids would suffer if they came off their machine at speed onto gravel.
The tricks include riding bikes with feet up on handlebars and arms folded, and at considerable speed. another favourite seems to be towing a scooter with a small infant holding onto the rear mudgard of the bike, precariously close to spinning wheel spokes that could easily break a childs fingers in seconds, and finally using the newly installed speed ramps as jumps to do tricks, often with two up on one bike. all this is entirely solo, so not involving any poor motorist who may have the misfortune to get in the way of these little tearaways and budding 'Evil Kenevils' , but at least the true stunt guys have the common sence to wear the correct protective clothing before trying out their tricks.
Some of the culprits have been caught out by the wardens as they do tend to take an evening stroll of the site, we have seen them talking to them, but 10 mins later and we heard one youngster shout F-off as the wardens left our area of the site, and the whole situation just started up again.
It really does make me cringe seeing these youngsters putting themselves in such danger, i had a daughter who has a serious accident whilst out playing on Bike ramps when she was 11, she had a hangmans fracture of her cervical vertibra (broken neck) and it was touch and go for about 6 months as to if she would ever walk and lead a full life again, luckily she did, thanks to the surgeons expertise, but i would hate to see a similar thing happen to a child on a campsite.

We stayed at Sandringham for the first time for a week from 4th August, and had a great time.
The site was full, it being school hols of course, and there were a great many kids on bikes. I think the problem arises because those of us who haven't been before don't realise that there is no cycling allowed on the paths in the woods. This isn't obvious from either the website or the handbook and we took our son's bike with us thinking he would be able to use it for woodland rides. At 15 he was too old to ride around the site on it ,but I think that's why alot of younger kids end up doing just that. Parents have taken bikes thinking the children are going to have alot more room to ride about on them.
Also, the pitches are gravel and a great deal of the gravel has ended up on the tarmac site roads, not ideal for little cyclists!
Having said all the above, we lost count of the number of cars that drove past our pitch doing far more than 5 mph!

We must have arrived at Sandringham (on the 12th) just as you left Annie, and it was during that week that the total cycling ban on site came into force, we were pitched almost opposite the disabled bathroom, and spotted the warden putting up the notices on the entrances to the toilet blocks, OH went over for a nosey read afterwards and discovered the cycle ban notices, and its for the entire site, not just the woodland areas.
