A 2 week delay in starting, builders for you, however it did mean that I wasn't out there on my own while hubby was away anyway first night over and done with in the caravan, too damn hot in October but hope it stays like that, not much sleep so maybe a glass or two of something may be called for tonight

Have now done 2 weeks of sleeping in the caravan, up until lastnight the weather was fairly mild but now it is noticibly colder.
I'm finding that not only is it our bedroom but also a little getaway haven from the dust an noise on my days off work, plus a damn site warmer than the house.

Penultiamte day for the builders, we got there at last, now to clean and get straight enough to get back into the house to sleep. New bannisters and electrics to be sorted Monday then they're off.
Including the half term when we went away in the caravan, we have lasted 5 weeks to date using the caravan as our bedroom, also as my refuge from the noise and mess when I've come home from work. It's been the cleanest quietest place to be and I'm so pleased we decided to bring her home.
Would thouroughly recommend having the caravan at home when big building jobs are being done, if only for a place to hide.

With a sunny day forecast for tomorrow we will be washing and cleaning the caravan ready to take back to its storage place, we have our new cover ready to use so hopefully a nice clean van will be ready at Easter for our first break of 2013.
We bought the Maypole cover in green 14 - 17 ft off of ebay for £69.99.
Be nice to get the drive back for ease of getting the cars off.

Watch out where the builders are putting their equipment - caravans are not the most robust of vehicles when cement, bricks and girders are being moved around.
How about borrowing a dog to keep you company in the van?
When looking after our sons house whilst he went on holiday.
I had to sleep in the old VW campervan whilst my Bob slept in a bed inside the house. I got on alright unitl I needed the loo in the night. Coming out in the middle of the night or early hours of the morning, unlocking the front door. Telling the dog to hush up so I did not wake Bob, doing what I had to. Then getting back outside and in to bed again.
All because they had no loo upstairs or stair lift to get up to the bedrooms. So I had to go outside.
Lovely actually,
Once locked in, I slept better than I would of in their bed it was far too soft & full of dogs hairs. Yuk! never allowed ours in the bed.
Builders were here for 5 weeks, we slept in caravan for 6, no problem with night time visits just used the loo in caravan, did feel a little weird going back and forth to the house in the morning in my big blue dressing gown but got fed up with getting dressed then undressed to wash in house.
Jax, first time I've not felt so sad at putting her away for the winter, mixture of being content in our new house/area and so glad to be back in a proper and NEW bedroom.
This cold spell we're having at moment makes me feel pleased not to be outside now.
Got the new cover on, what a performance , can only get easier with experience. Hope it does what it says on the tin

Best way to put a cover in is to roll it from each end up the the middle. Then throw it over the middle of the van, then roll each bit out to the ends!
My son came over to 'help' me put mine on, and it was a performance HIS way! LOL!

Now this way we will definitely try as it is not easy me in a wheelie and Bob at 5'9" it becomes the tall v the short. But this could work for us, cannot rely always on having someone there for a helping hand as what happened this time we put our van to bed.
