Used one for the first time last year. Extremely thorough , a lot cheaper than a dealer and all done on my driveway. I have purchased a new van and have had it drawn up in my agreement and sale invoice that he can do all warranty work and servicing on new van.
we use a mobile engineer - caravan site allow him access without permission as he is always up on the site working on several vans. Perhaps this is symptomatic of the lack of mobile engineers in the area.
I did have a negative experience from previous engineer that almost put me off using them. We had to send him a letter threatening court action to obtain a refund as it became obvious he hadn't performed the service we had paid him to undertake and I had to be rescued by AA after a repair.
If your good and honest you'll get repeat business and also referrals as us caravanners like to talk and share positive experiences regarding our caravans.
We use a mobile engineer. He is warranted by Bailey and Swift and is able to do any warranty work. He comes to our house and I am able to discuss with him if there any problems.
I do know that he has spent a small fortune going to training programmes with the manufactures so you will need some capital behind you.
Thanks for all your input folks. I've been to a local site today that's a mile from my house and had a chat with them. They have 40 seasonal pitches and about the same available to book. They are more than happy to have a "local" lad to recommend to people. Just have to wait for a few weeks on a possible promotion at work and if I don't get it I think I'll be setting myself up as a mobile engineer.
Will keep you posted!

Good luck! I also use a mobile engineer!
I don't know whether this is a good idea or not, but a mobile caravan washing service could be combined into this, if you had an apprentice laddie or lassie!

Unless our caravans have been under warranty we've always used a very good man based in Bristol.

Hi Basilbrush
I'll be looking for a mobile engineer in the Bristol area soon. Could you possibly supply contact details for this guy please? I'd rather use somebody that's been recommended than somebody random from the yellow pages.
We always use a mobile engineer, why pay £190 to a dealer, we have to get it there and cant pick it up for 5 days, it gets done on the drive, and at a fraction of the cost £110, and he does the damp test when I am there, so I can see for myself, would never go to a dealer, unless it was a new van under warranty, and then if like our dealer you never get the job done anyway.
