Why is a Vauxhall coming from Korea?
Because they (GM) (American) like you to think they are selling you a british car but in fact it is really an Opel (German) or Chevrolet (Korean, re named Daewoo) the only "British" Vauxhall is the Astra, made in Ellesmere port. Also sold in Europe as an Opel Astra.
Actually there is nothing British about Vauxhall, Ford, Jaguar, etc. The biggest British car makers are LTI who make black cabs, Aston Martin and Morgan
Vauxhall also make cars in Germany.Spain,Poland, and Belgium
Most car manufactures are international, there are factorys in europe that make Toyota Citroen and Peugeot on the same production line.
It makes me smile when i listen to people argue that one is better than the other when they are the same car with a different badge.
Same with Scoda,(good morning Bob) how many people say (i wouldn't have one of those) not knowing that they are built by Audi Volkswagen using the same components.

Looks likeI'll be driving up to Scotland and back when the car finally arrives!!!!! I'll have to see if I can get the van towed to the site and leave it there for a month. <img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley6.gif" width="17" alt="17"><img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley6.gif" width="17" alt="17"><img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley6.gif" width="17" alt="17">
On the plus side though, you could be using it by next weekend if you did that!!!!!
My understanding was that only the Daewoo part of GM is made in Korea. The majority of the Vauxhall and Open cars are made in Europe. A little bit of research would suggest the Antara is actually a badge engineered Daewoo Winstorm MaXX though.
When we picked our new Hyundai up from the dealers I actually asked when I would be able to tow with it and was told that I could tow with it straight away.

Where there's a will there's a way.......I have taken my towing hating, penny pinching DH to the caravan show for the past 4 years in the hope that he would change his mind. He hates putting the tent up but it is the cheapest way of having a holiday!!!! So this year I got my van and we knew we'd also have to buy a bigger, gas guzzling motor to tow it........so although I don't yet have a plan, by Easter I will collect my caravan, if I have to pull the little darling myself!!!!!

That's good to hear, thanks. Part of me is thinking that if i was buying this car as a work car, maybe needing to tow a trailer, you couldn't not use it straight away. On the other hand if the engine blows up and we are towing I want to know no one is going to say it's because of towing, and invalidate the warranty. Part of choice over buying this car was the lifetime/100,000 mile warranty.

Hi i towed with our Antara (2.2cdti 4x4) first time last weekend just to make sure all was ok and it towed our van like a dream. Manchester to Preston and back on the motorway and some normal road driving with the van attached. I know it was only a small distance but returned 22 mpg travelling at an average of 62 mph. Our volvo (previous car returned 25 - 29 mpg, and not much lighter) My only issue with Antara is taht around town and short journeys the mpg is poor. With regards to its history, it was indeed a throw back from Daewoo when GM purchased it. Vauxhall did not have a 4x4 or SuV and the Antara fitted the bill, unfortunately the Mk1 (>2007) was very poor and a rework was needed, as i think in 2009 vauxhall sold 998 units. The new Model was launched in 2011 with another face lift in 2012. Our first full tow is at easter to the lakes so will see how it goes then. As for towing thought i read somewhere it needed 800 miles run in before towing.
Husband works for a car dealership and says that running-in a modern car is unneccessary, but because most people expect to have to do it, they add it into the handbook.
Tow on!
------------- 2015 - our 1st year of caravanning with a new baby. Can't wait! :)
we got our kia sorento and the dealer never said anything to us about running it in before you towed and we told them wed just purchased our new van so had to change our tow car to be compatible

I think we will have run around in it but unless the warranty actually states not to tow then we shall just go ahead. We have been able to check the handbook and although it talks about towing (the car has some sort of leveller to facilitate towing) it doesn't mention running it in.
