The thing to remember is that tyers on a caravan do not take the strains that they do on a car.
if you think of the huge strains on car tyers caused by the steering, weight transfer on bends ect.
the caravan is not subject to the same hard life they get on the car.
as long as you buy to the correct standard you shouldn't have a problem.
next time you visit a caravan showroom have a look and see whats fitted as standard to all new models of caravan.
another interesting fact is most budget tyers are made on the same production line as some of the top makes, ask your tyre fitter WHO makes them, you will be surprised.
Quote: I would think (I'm guessing) that manufacturers would be in serious trouble if the tyre could be shown to have failed at any loading less that that stated.
It is my understanding that the UK Tyre industry strongly recommends that the maximum vehicle load should not exceed 90% of the combined tyre load capacity as indicated by the load index.
That said, there can be downsides in going for overkill, so I would pay more attention to making sure the tyres matched the caravan, than I would to branding.

Its a bit like selling a pint of beer with a load of froth on the top
Matching makes sense to me

Nothing wrong with "Budget" tyres IMHO. The vast majority of all tyres are made in the far east anyway, Mainly The PRC. Lots of the budgets are made closer to home, Poland and Rumania to name two. The only UK made tyre Ive seen recently is Avon.
