Was that with the Caravan Club? Got mine now and delighted with it but didn't know that some insurers give a discount.
i am a motor engingeer,i am also due to my age really wanting a warning of sorts on tyre pressures as i am a bit old to be checking tyres each week by hand on one knee. this system i like very much and i want to buy one.but!!!! over the years i have found that once something has been in place for a long period like chrome caps ect.the dam things do jot not want to come off without causing damage to the tyre valves and plyers are the order of the day.my point is once these monitors have been in place for a year or two will they come off without damage to the monitor and valve.expensive day out if you need to damage one after a punture as this cost will be on top any other.not being tight.just wondered if anyone has trouble of this kind? still interested big time.

Michael. I've been using Tyrepal for 2 years now. It's only fitted to my twin axle when it's being towed.
Michael, The sensors just screw onto the tyre valve in place of the dust cap.
However I have opted to use the locking rings that come with them, this is to make it more awkward for unscrupulous tea-leafs to nick them. Each ring is held in place by 3 small stainless allen screws.
I bought a tyrepal system and use it every time I tow even though tyre pressures are checked (along with everything else) before each outing. It's that extra reassurance to know everything is as it should be with those few millimetres of rubber which you rely on. If the worst does happen and we have a blowout I want to know the second it happens, Tyron bands won't tell you that.
However, Perhaps i should have saved my money as I am waiting for Greendemon to share with us what device he uses to predict when a blowout is going to happen, now that is really smart!

Please don't think I'm belittling this equipment, but I think I'd rather spend £160 getting Tyron bands fitted as a first option.
No problem Saftlad. There are different approaches available to try and reduce problems associated with possible tyre failures. In my opinion the Tyron Band seems to deal with undesireable consequenses should one happen, whereas tyre monitor systems try and give advance warning of one of the main causes, namely, underinflation (however caused) and that was the reason for the choice I made.
slight problem looking at it again today.yesterday had two new tyres fitted front and front moved to rear and balanced,ok no problem there.looking at the the website it says each monitor weighs 11 grams each.i asked the tyre dealer if i would need a re-balance and he said yes on all 4 tyres because the machine works to less than this.this would cost £ 24 for 4 tyres.
