accept my apology jim ,it wasn't meant personally more a general comment .it seems you have done your research and are confident enough ,hope you have a good holiday .
Hi Black Fox
Thank you for that. I really appreciate your comments. In fact I do have special circumstances that you won't be aware of. My main job has been towing caravans and trailers for people. Invariably these have been overloade with bad tyres, so I've had a few adventures. Four blowouts in one day? Now that's a pain.
When I wasn't busy, I used to drive coaches and artics, whatever the weather. You don't have the luxury of deciding whether you want to go or not. 3 million miles on the road, including one million towing.
On top of that, for ten years I was a stunt driver for TV. I was the first specialist driver to get into Equity. There have only ever been three, and the other two used to work for me.
Not on a regular basis, I have also done towing trials relating to speed and weight distribution. About three times, I have displayed with a caravan on a skid pan. That's not easy.
So I'm not worried. But neither would I tell people to do it. Having said that, you don't see caravans upside down in the winter. I have seen many in the summer, and it has usually been poor loading or speed.
Nobody is going to get killed, or even hurt. That would mean you were going too fast for the conditions. I assure you the worst that will happen on my way to Wales will be getting stuck, or at any rate a very light contact.
I absolutely expect to arrive without incident.
I really appreciate your change of attitude. Thank you.
Jim

Jim my posts are meant in good faith ,in the 30 years I have lived here I have never seen snow like it ,it will vary from one area to the next ,and in your case it sounds like you can handle it ,a lot of people cannot ,if reading local reports stops someone from making a costly mistake then it's worth posting IMHO.
