My neighbour, who lives opposite me ,on the other side of the road, parks his car on the road opposite my drive.our road is quite narrow and I cannot get my van off the drive unless he moves his car, which he does ,whenever I ask.he has a caravan too so is fine about it. Perhaps the OP has the same problem,he doesn't say his neighbour is parked across his drive.
We have same issue as above with our neighbours opposite-they have three cars so park opposite our drive in front of their own as they are entitled to do. We also have issues with people parking for full days two wheels on kerb as we live close to a hospital and train station. If we want to get caravan off drive we now have to put traffic cones outside on road the night before, a bit cheeky probably but does the trick and generally people respect the cones and neighbours opposite know that when the cones come out its because we want to get caravan out and they keep out of the way.

Oh god neighbours can be a delight or a real pain in the arse. I would always go through stages of engagement try the nice approach first and then escalate in degrees. If this individual is not answering the door try a polite note (keep a copy). If no luck get the police involved, it may be worth while contacting the police to ask if the community officer could nip around for a chat and a cupper you can then explain the issue you can also demonstrate that you are reasonable and have tried before to resolve this amicably this should help keep the police on side. I am sure the officer will go and have a chat to resolve the matter with your neighbour.
I would not take any direct action suggested this will make you the bad one and leave you open to prosecution.

It used to drive me insane that our neighbour parked his van on the drive, for years nothing grew in the garden and our kitchen was always dark. It was a joy when they went away for the weekend.
You could have asked him to site it on a different part of the drive... I would have if I was asked to. Maybe he just didn't realise that it was blocking all your light off.

We had single car side by side drives, the caravan meant they walked down our drive to get to their house. I mentioned it to him and it stayed there for a couple of years until they bought one that overhung the pavement and it finaly went off to storage.
Double (shared) drives can be a nuisance I suppose . . . a bit o` give and take elps on both sides. Our neighbor had his boat on his; so he`d use our drive to shift is motorbike every day. Where we live now, or `van is parked on the site o` the garage at the end of the shared (double) drive. Risky getting the van out whilst his car`s there. Whilst I`ve never had to ask him yet (he uses it for work) the time will come. He seems like a good egg . . .! Still wish he`d get a `van himself . . . heh heh

Hi
We are end of terrace in a cull de sack and i have a caravan a few years when i purchased my van i difnt tell any of my neighbours if they dont like it tough its my property. One of my gobby neighbours mentioned my van once and before he could carry on i mentioned if any of my neighbours fancyed paying my mortguage they can have a say on what i do otherwise i used two choice words, having a van on your drive is your business not anyone else. People are too quick to comment. No i have laid the ground rules down i dont have any issues. And we all get on.
