Having been members of both clubs I would always opt for the CC method. Their sites are all of such a good standard that I have never had a problem with a bad pitch. This is said with experience of travelling for a year round the British Isles. I hate being plonked on a pitch with no choice, its not until you get to the site do you get a feel for the layout, sun direction, areas used by children etc. I have travelled with my young grandchildren and without so looked for different positions accordingly. The pitches are far larger than the vast majority of commercial sites and of a good standard. The costs of belonging to both clubs is not expensive and gives you a very wide coverage across the country then.
CC club also have a wide range of sites that offer a late night arrivals area, which means that you can arrive after the office has closed at night and hook up on designated pitches near the entrance for the night and then book in and find a pitch the next morning. Would always choose the pick a pitch when you arrive method eve.ry time
