We used to tow with a 2.5 Ford Maverick Diesel and it wasn't bad but it did struggle a bit with hills and was a bit greedy on fuel we now have a Ford Mondeo ST Diesel it tows really well and flies up hills and is so much cheaper on fuel.

AceMarauder, what car you driving to get 76mpg?
05 1.3cdti corsa its a great little car it was the last car i thought i would own but the fuel consuption sold it to us especialy doing minimum of 1200 mile a month at the moment. Downside not much room for my model boats but once wife starts driving she can have that and ill get a estate car.
------------- She may be old, she may be rough around the edges but she is our home from home and we love it.

I have no idea of MPG but im pretty sure the passat will tow the olg girl fine, i love the new Skoda's, an am quite keen on Kia jeeps too (funds prevent me from owning anything newer than about 10 years old).....the Maverick was gutless but we now have a car that will do fine.
i WILL go away in October, even if i have to have a garage sale! :-)
