I meant the weught of the van halfed for each tyre.
So a 1200 caravan would be 600 for each tye.

In this case, the caravans weight is very close to the tyres maximum load and this makes the 60psi result of using the formula accurate.
However, always be aware, as the caravans weight gets further from the tyres maximum, the further inaccurate the calculation gets.
The inaccuracy is always a higher pressure than required so at the very least, never be tempted to add a bit for 'good measure'!

Been told that the formula is not as simple as it sounds, the chart gives you the psi for each tyre depending on the weight of the van but the way its worked out isn't as simple, you can't half the weight of the van for each tyre as when you are cornering the weight of the van is more on one tyre than the other. If it was worked out on half the weight of the van for each tyre when cornering one tyre would be over weight as such.
If you need the correct Psi contact the manufacturers of the said caravan.

The wrong psi can lead to a crash maybe a life so don't take peoples word for it.

These are the facts for our 'van.

Tyre load rating is 86 so max load is 530kg at 45psi. Its a twin axle, so 4 tyres - so max load for all 4 = 2120kg at 45psi.

Our MTPLM is 1750 so - 45/2120 x 1750 = 37.15psi.

The manual for the 'van states 36psi and this is also printed on the wheel arches.

Seems close enough.
