Without the Aquaroll connected there's no running water (unless you have an onboard tank), so you'd need to carry a bottle of water to make tea.
I always use a small container for drinking water never the aquaroll.
I was grateful for the loo on a 9 hour run to Cornwall. When you get to my age, you can't always walk the distance from a lorry park to the loo. Wet pants are uncomfortable to drive in but they keep you warm.

We don't use our toilet but would if the need arose but the walk to the toilets helps stretch the legs anyway after you have been sitting for a while. We do put the steadies down as its so quick with a battery drill and I wouldn't like to stress the frame either. We carry a 2 ltr bottle of water for a nice brew and a rest when we stop, I think it helps break up the journey. The van is never left unattended en route.

Lorry drivers cook in there vehicles when parked in the services why not caravans, we used our toilet make a drink have a meal ect just dont go over 2 hours or you need to pay. Been known to have a kip as well.
Apart from one memorable incident when we had to pull into the Boundary Mills carpark in Colne for an emergency stop as l developed a tummy bug on the return journey from Scotland (didnt even shut the door l was in such a rush) we use services and take food and flasks.

We were never so glad to be towing a caravan when our youngest decided to have a violent episode requiring a toilet at short notice. Thank God we were not on a motorway. No time to wind steadies down and no need, but it is amazing how much a caravan rocks with passing traffic.
I notice that there was some mention of stopping on the hard shoulder - that is a NO NO. That is for use in emergencies & breakdowns and I don't think the police would accept a toilet break as an emergency
I've certainly used the toilet as I'm on my own with two kids and it means I don't have to worry about the security of the caravan. It's handy if you are unsure of the location of public toilets when you're not on the motorway.
We always use our own toilet, especially as the parking for caravans is usually as far away from the services toilets as they can be! There is usually water in the flush part of the toilet and blue stuff in the other part.
We usually carry a small water container so that we can make tea and wash hands.
We also don't put the steadies down although as it does shoogle a bit when large lorries go past if you are stopped in just a lay-by which is close to the road!
we were on our way home from a week with the van when the wife said "can you pull over at the next layby I really need to go to the loo" my reply was there are no loos at this layby. Her reply there is one in the caravan your towing. OH yeh duh .

Glad you pointed that out.

We also put the blue in the loo before we go and there's usually a litre or so in the flush tank. Not had to stop on the journey yet but the caravan loo is often used while I'm checking us in and before we are on our pitch
We love having the van for motorway services stops. One will head over to buy coffee and we sit in the van with it. So much more relaxing.
