Lots more for than against so far. What I was really trying to get at is that some folk won't use no facility CLs/CSs, they don't know what they are missing imo.
Have used them once or twice.
I know EXACTLY what I am missing.
You were unlucky, many of them are lovely and most are at least acceptable. I always check the CC and C&CC websites for reviews, they are generally pretty accurate.

We tend to look for CLs and CSs and only use the bigger sites (the ones with full facilities) if our preferred type is not available.
Even with the FC which had no shower, a strip down wash for a few weeks is not so bad if it means staying on a nice, smaller site.
I am invariably amused to see folks stepping out of large caravans which clearly have full facilities built in and walking to the showers or carrying their dishes in basins to the dish wash area.
When we bought our FC it was 3 years old, but the toilet and wash hand basin had never been used!!!
What is the point in spending all that money for something you are not going to use?
I must check my reviews and see how many of the CLs/CSs (most of my reviewed UK sites) are 9 or 10 out of 10. We don't like big sites, only normally stay on them if we really have to, and then for as little time as possible.
Thought so, previous here I know there are more, just can't find them at the mo.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
The shower in our van is primarily used by the children but if we are on a full service pitch I might use it. Haven't ever been to a CL as dh likes sites with facilities as he would find it tricky to use the caravan due to size.
The good thing is we all do what we want to do regarding using shower in caravan or facilities on site.
There is no right or wrong way.
I had to laugh at one of the comments from the link that blueexpo97 highlighted.. "the shower must be fit for purpose or the manufacturers would'nt fit one, well possibly but sometimes they can't even fit a roof on a caravan that does'nt leak from day one, as many posts on this forum have proved!
------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
We're same as Bertie and have used the shower mainly for storage in our short (1 year) caravan adventure so far. If we were on a serviced pitch I'd probably give it a go but to be honest being 6'1 and 15 stone i find the space provided by the on site facilities a better option.
------------- I went to the top of the mountain...and looked over the other side!
I use my shower cubicle but not currently as a shower!!!
At the moment it is invaluable apace for dirty wellys, wet coats and the muddy dog bed. I cant be bothered to move and clean all that when there is a perfectly good warm shower block not too far away.
Its also difficult to shower in the van as I have VERY long VERY thick hair and it takes a long time to get the water through it in order to wash it and that risks the aqua roll running out. I am considering a second aqua roll but again think why bother with that large expense when the shower block is good.
I go to the shower block in my dressing gown and don't care much about others views, Id have less on in my swim suit, bikini or summer dress. I am therefore in and out of the block relatively quickly.
We are on a seasonal pitch so do evaluate this every now and then, so in better weather when the shower blocks are likely to be busy at peak time I use the van.
The beauty of caravanning is each to their own, so why make judgement on peoples habits that are different to your own?

I am not sure of the exact measurements of the shower in our 1997 Bailey but at 6' 4" and a weight such as I can only dream about ever getting down to 15st again, our shower is more than big enough to accommodate me.
Indeed I bet me and the OH could shower together. We will certainly be using ours.
But, like with everything caravan wise, it is all a matter of choice and whether that is to do with sites or facilities, it is the name of the game.

Yes, I remembered this thread too - and am still waiting for the people who want to know why anyone would buy a van with a shower and not use it to list the manufacturers who make a van without a shower!!
I do use mine - it's an ideal size for storing our fishing poles!
Thank you Anne for raising this question. As a tenter, I have always wondered why so many caravanners with big modern vans use the showers on site. I've had to forego a shower on many occasions as have friends because of the waits for folks, many of whom have come from vans. This is NOT a rant, BTW, just that we camp in connection with our hobby and frequently don't have lots of time.
