I took mine off for last summer and found some of the paintwork had been scrubbed off with the cover having been flapping against the side. Only a 6" square patch but annoying.

Interesting. I have just ordered a Protec cover with easy-fit and got the offer that they had with the towing cover at half price . I will have to just wait and see. Someone mentioned having to have their caravan polished I had mine done by Tourershine and the guy recommended using a cover. So who is right

Considered it, but have a solar panel on the roof which wouldn't work under a cover. Planning on using something like Fenwick's winterising fluid.

Hi glittering-prize

I read your message with great interest, as I also ordered a Pro-tec easy fit Cover last October 2013, from the  Pro-tec stand at the NEC Caravan & Motorhome show in  Birmingham.

The cover arrived in December 2013, and I  cleaned our caravan like I always have done with fenwicks cleaner as the Protec instructions say, before fitting the cover, and doing all the straps up.

In May this year I uncovered the caravan to use for our holiday and was horrified to see the caravan was covered in dark marks which look like tiger/leopard prints i.e. the cover has rubbed on the caravan and marked it badly.

At the moment I am in the process of trying to get Protec to look at the caravan but they are very unhelpful.

I paid £10,000 for this caravan in June 2013 it is a Swift Challenger 540.

It has now been damaged by the Protec cover that I purchased to  protect my investment. NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE

They are really messing me about and I am fuming.  How are you getting on with your complaint to them? I would be interested to know how you are getting on with the customer after service.

I will take them to court if they don't give me my money back for the cover and put the caravan back to how it was when it was purchased.

The cover will not be going on my caravan again.

And if anybody else as had problems with the Protec Covers would you please get intouch with me A.S.A.P please

sorry to hear your issues blue boy but I can only recommend Protec from my experience. The cover has done it's job and yes agree with ensuring everything is fully open when storing for long times. I will also open the door up and have side windows ajar in good weather but it is stored on my property so easy for me. I have used the cheap versions and IMO it is worth paying the extra. The van always looks the same as when I covered it. I have a few black streaks but that was from before it was covered. May be the have changed the material in the last 2 years.

We had a Protec cover with our old van, it was cleaned and polished at the end of the season, before the cover went on and it always looked fantastic when we took it off.

I always up end cushions and open lockers and drawers to allow the air to circulate and I use a device to drain all the water from the van.

Never had an problems. We are surrounded by trees so the cover protects the van from bird lime and tree debris etc.

New van came with a Specialised Cover - hope its as good.

Why aren't all vans affected by the covers rather than a minuscule minority. Possibly the paintwork had something wrong with it to start with or with some maybe there was grit on the paint surface.
