at a guess cos its a cheap led thing which works off 3 volts or less and they cant be arsed to transform it down or wire it in.. :)

If you were to empty the cassette toilet daily, your toilet chemicals are only going to last half as long therefore it would be cheaper in the long term to buy a pair of AA batteries for the toilet light when required. Not unless of course money is no object and can afford to flush your money down the loo.
