I have to admit I absolutely hate the cold, and it does affect my joints and my back problems.
I bought a caravan for pleasure, not torture, so I will stick to caravanning in good weather. I know it's cosy and warm inside the van, but you can't stay cooped up inside the van for days on end. There's shopping to get, and the dogs needs his walks.
If others enjoy winter caravanning, that's great. Good luck to them, it's all a matter of personal choice. Roll on summer, I want to get out there again soon.
Nice to read all your different views on winter camping. Glad your cancer op went well NewtoAbbey. We have decorating to do at home so we will be starting that now to get it out of the way before we start caravanning in March. We belong the Caravanning and Camping Club's Photo Group and we are looking forward to the meet in March in Wiltshire and meeting friends again. Also our daughter lives in Dorset and teaches in Salisbury so we will be able to meet up with her too.

If just my wife and I we would winter caravan, but with a 6 year old and 8 year old keeping them entertained in winter isnt fun !!!!!!! Plus 2 elderly dogs who hate the cold. Our 1st trip in Easter and I cant wait
We are seriously thinking of buying a folding caravan for winter trips. I do the towing and have been put off winter caravanning because of the unpredictable weather. I don't mind the cold or wet but if it gets windy whilst we are away the thought of towing the van back home fills me with dread. As a result we have not ventured out for the past two winters which is a shame.
Absolutely itching to get going this year, didn't go anywhere last year as using the caravan in the garden while we renovated the house, it was a godsend but would far rather be on a campsite than a building site.
We are also chomping at the bit to get away, so far we have a trip to the East Coast in March, Le Mans 24 Hour (For a week) in June and then a trip through France and down to the Costa Brava in August....That's without the spur of the moment trips..I'm really lucky in the fact our caravan is stored at my work so any time the weather looks half decent for a weekend I just hitch up and away we go!! Cant wait!!

This coming week-end is our first week-end off together since November so are hoping to get away. We don't mind the weather once on site but if the forecast snow arrives we won't tow in that.
------------- Started with a motorbike and tent.......my gallery, my life.
We are off again soon, dont know why we bothered buying a made to measure cover for it, as its never still long enough.
I adore paying approx £60 for a weekend away, to look at a million dollar view, to walk, to smell the fresh air and above all to relax from work and just chill. The icing on the cake is that the housework in a cvan takes all of 10 minutes and you are good to go...........
Just took the plunge and booked four nights at the Old Oaks as they are doing special mid week offers, first time we are doing February, normally wait till April but intend doing one a month this year
Its getting noticeably lighter in the evenings. The van will have its wash and polish and service in march .The car has new oil, filter and brakes so all ready to go towing.Work is a real bind, but when you are sat there, outside your pride and joy with a beer and the bbq sizzeling and talking passers by on the site it just seems all worth while

Another caged family here! Not too dissimilar to other posters - 6 year old, 8 year old, one old black Lab and a new 'van we've been away in once when we went to pick it up in Oct last year. Now spending my evenings planning our hols for this year - Cornwall, France and Germany. Bring on longer, milder days!
We are just waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer.
Haven't been anywhere since August, as I had my right knee replaced, and recovery hasn't been as swift as I thought it would.
Love to walk the dog when we are away, but even after five months, am only managing a twenty minute walk.
