CC are having a larf.
A mutual non-profit organisation. Should be ashamed. If it wasn't fot CL's and CC Insurance I'd be gone.
Perhaps providing the organisation for the CLs and the insurance, is only possible from the camping revenue.
Nothing unfair about the pricing Imo. . . there are other sites which do not charge differently. There are others which are cheaper particularly if you book early. We got 3 nights at 28 smackeroos by doinag this.

Discounted Insurance Quotes for UKCampsite.co.uk visitors! Up to 12.5% off!
We will just go to any other European country with our ACSI Card and pay €12 per night. (Under a tenner) on sites with heated pool, restaurant, and other facilities our poor break even not for profit club don't have. Like free wifi.
Oh by the way, these European sites make a profit. Simples.
were do you go in Europe with a pool & restaurant at peak times (school holidays and bank holidays) for less than a tenner? & is that each or for 2 people ?
campsites are just doing the same as abroad holidays which go double when kids are off school,I too think it is a rip off but if we want to holiday whichever way we choose then a lot of people will pay it, personally I choose not to and pick and choose my sites, I was self employed before retirement and if I had come to some of your houses when the kids were off and tried to charge you more than normally I would have got short shrift so what is the difference, in the recession etc I would also be working at a loss just to keep in work.
Keith
I'm sure a few years ago campsites weren't charging these prices, it seems to be since the schools have started fining parents for taking their children out of school. Also if I remember right when I camped years ago we only paid for the pitch but Europe seem to have charged pitch and person so I reckon that the uk have followed.
The prices have gone up a lot the past couple of years and it's unfair

Bessie
Bessie. That's for 2 adults with electricity from site openimng till approx end June - early July. Dates vary but check out the ACSI Camping Card
website for details. Some sites are all year, some don't open till beginning April. But none I looked at in the ACSI book exclude Easter in the €12 deal. Believe me. I thought this thread was re Easter. The summer peak season is excluded obviously.

As far as I know Stuart, the insurance is provided by Frizell and they pay the CC a commission for the privilege.
Organisation of the CLs consists of an entry in the sites book and an occasional inspection. Bookings are direct with the CL.
That's why I think they are having a larf.
The "Holiday rate" is not an inflated price, it is the standard price. The cheaper off peak is a reduced rate to encourage people to use the site at quiet times.
If the price was the same the whole year round, at holiday times you would have to book even further in advance as it would be over subscribed. Away from holiday time the site would be empty
Say 100 units at peak times at £25 a night 8 weeks 7 days a week. Income is 100 x 25 x 8 x 7 = £14,000 pa
Then off peak say 5 units average April to September 6 months at £10 a night. Income is 5 x 18 (weeks) x 7 x 10 = £6300 pa.
They have to make the money when they can or just plough up the field and plant spuds or graze cattle or whatever. Whoops, there's no money in that either.
This price hike also hits those of us that work on a term-time only contract, not only teachers, but those that earn considerably less i.e Teaching assistants, cleaners, dinner ladies etc.
