We found that Thetford silicone spray intended to lubricate toilet seals is ideal for awning rails as well!

Hi Lindsey, slightly of topic but what do you think of the Kampa Fiesta Air. I'm new to caravaning but we need an awning due to kids bikes etc. we've looked at the Kampa Rally Pro as well as the Outwell Pacific Coast (which is like the Fiesta) just wondering if you have any tips? Thanks Barry

Most caravan accessory shops have them and they are quite cheap, often come with a little stiff angled brush to sweep spider's webs & other detritis out of the channel.

We haven't bought the tool yet but there's one in the site shop where we're staying, its only a fiver so might buy it before we go home. I'd imagine ebay would have one...they have everything!

Hi Barry,

We love the Fiesta Air Pro (now the awning rail issue is sorted lol!). I did shop around before deciding on the fiesta but I was swung by the following points:

1. Single point of inflation, it takes literally 30 seconds to inflate, tops!

2. The size, we have the 420, we wanted the largest air awning we could for storage, dining in etc.

3. Versatility, you can remove the front and both the side panels (good for when its hot), you can also add a canopy and side annex if needed in the future.

4. The fiesta won over the rally as it felt roomier and you had more head height and usable space.

It takes my hubby about 20 minutes to put the awning up in total and only 10 minutes to take down and pack away. The initial cost was slightly eye watering but we really are very impressed.

If you decide on the Fiesta, i wouldn't bother with the extra upright pole set, we bought it but to be honest, i don't think its needed and we haven't used it yet.

If you want to know anything else just ask :)

Thanks everyone, thats really helpful. I'll get some silicone furniture polish and make sure we pack a set of steps in the van!

Funny you should mention that Jesscar, we did feed the awning in from the bottom of the rail, will definitely try from head height next time

You don't need to buy or pack steps just use the caravan steps . Just buy the double steps for your van and use that for both . the single step is much to low anyway .
