do you mean Tuareg? Tiguans are no heavier than a saloon car, they are about 1450kg arnt they? they were certainly lighter than my previous jeep compass (4x4 limited) kerb weight which was 1600kg. the max gross weight might be higher but the outfit matching figure is the Kerb weight.
i too am looking at twin axle vans right now, i have an outlander now which tows my 550/6 with a 73% ratio. its kerb weight is 1750kg. most of the twin axles over 600cm inside i have seen are around 1700kg MPLM. i wish now i had bought a heavier car as i had planned.
however, there are some exceptions like the sterling Europa, eldis explore which are around 1500kg MPLM.
