Pressure washer = no no. Wash with any decent car wash & wax.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Problem is, I am naturally suspicious of garages and technicians, it would be all too easy to have one look at it and see the pound signs in his eyes as its an older caravan.
Could you advise what the best caravan cleaner is? And am I right in thinking that a pressure washer isn't ideal to use?
Agreed no pressure washer- this would likely create more damp problems. I can understand your suspicions, but you can pay an engineer to inspect it only. Might be the best thing to do before you go commiting more cash. Try not to let enthusiasm run away with you! At the very least get a 4 prong damp meter- they are only about £20.

Also test the tow hitch damper by pushing the tow hitch back, it should be stiff but will retract. If it does, it will, when released slowly return to full extension.
Right, tested the tow hitch, pushed it in as far as I could, then when released it done as above and returned very slowly to full extension, is it likely to be the damper?
AaronR, I see you're in Ipswich. We've had Simon from Thetford Caravan Services come out and look at our caravan (now just waiting for better weather so he can do the repair). Ipswich may be a bit too far but it might be worth asking him. I've only met him once but he seemed a decent bloke and was a busy man. He came to look at a damp repair, talked through the options and the prices, and which is the most suitable option. His service price was significantly cheaper than we had just paid to a well established local company. First impression of Simon was he is a decent chap, knows what he's talking about no wont rip you off. So might be worth contacting him if you want someone to look at it for you.
