When we had a caravan I had one but I could only use it on the road as where I store it in the back garden is on a slope. I thought it quite fiddly to use and the was not always easy to get the caravan to pass over the machine smoothly. It was useful for measuring side to side weight and it shocked me to find there could be up to 50kgs difference side to side when empty!!! I just wish that caravan manufacturers issued a certificate on purchase giving overall weight, nose weight and side to side weight. This would be a good starting point.

Thanks for that information David regards side to side weight your observation is spot on makes a lot of sense.
This is very relevant to my own caravan, on the nearside we have heavy objects such as the microwave, fridge, oven, sink, & fire, and nothing at all on the other side.
The result is that even on a level pitch it is always slightly lower on the nearside, which does concern me, previous post have raised this issue in the past and to my mind it does need addressing by the caravan manufacturers

i have one of these and searched the UKCS to see how accurate they are. i used mine yesterday to measure the weight of my caravan. i was a little dismayed to see it was a few kg over the MPLM which is 1600kg. there really isnt so much inside the caravan but there is a motor mover. i dont have the Awning in it and never carry it in the caravan. i had hoped i would be at least 50 kg below the MPLM but alas seems not. i wouldnt put more in it than there was when i weighed it only clothes in the wardrobe. i carry food, drinks, awning, awning poles, pegs, cadac kids bikes etc in the car to increase its weight. just shows how little payload is left after motormover, leisure battery, microwave, fridge, oven are added to the MRO.

i bought 1 and was a little surprised how much under weight i was before we went away, even side to side was only 20 kgs of a differance. seems very simple to use as i have a desent drive to use it on with the mover.

yes it was very easy to use and the side to side weights were both within 40kg of each other.

the nose weight seemed to read low though as i have a reich TLC nose weight gauge and that weighed 81kg the last time i measured it and the loading in the caravan is the same but the Reich system only measured 65 or so. however my drive slopes very slightly and the surface the jocky wheel stands on is rough tarmac but the wheels are on blockpaving. i thik the reich gauge sank in to the rough tarmac.
