I think it boils down to two points.
1. As above name the site. They take the cash they should do their job or lose custom.
2. Common decency and respect for others

I know many people prefer to suffer in silence and not cause a fuss, and I am a burly bloke of 6ft, but my rule is that if someone is annoying me I have a word with them immediately.

To be fair, since we switched to caravans I can't think of an occasion I've had to do this, but when a tenter I would have no hesitation in telling people to turn down TVs (many people think they're in a house) or stereos, or keep it down after, say, 11.00pm.

The alternative is to sit grinding one's teeth all weekend and going home feeling stressed - much better to unload the stress on the miscreant without delay.

On the site we use in Cornwall every year it seem normal for the season pitch holders to wander straight through other peoples pitches on the way to the showers, we now know just where to park the car and unfortunately the wind break goes up as soon as we get there. We were also woken by laughing and shouting at around 3.30 am on the night before travelling home by some teens who had been to the music festival and were camping between 2 season vans. Gave them a chance to quieten down but it did not happen so walked over to tell them to be quite, surprisingly had an apology and all went quiet. Very tempted to go over at 7am with a couple of pans.

There are plenty of ignorant sods about all over.

Ironically, when we had our motorhome, a caravan pitched up beside us - no problem there. Except, the caravan was right up to the edge of its - quite large pitch, nearest us. Still no problem.
Then, the cheeky git parked his car twixt the two - on OUR bloody pitch - almost crushing our bikes parked at the rear into the bargain! The car was under a yard from our door.

His reasoning; as we were in a motorhome, he didnt think we needed all the pitch. And what he didnt say was, parking in front of his own unit buggered his view!

I will not tolerate these things, ok I am a bit of a lump with a decent rugby pedigree behind me and my wife and I are always very considerate to our fellow campers.

Three things have made me slightly belligerent in the past, one was a dog owner with one of those extending leads and allowed his dog to wander across our pitch, and was sniffing my jockey wheel and about to cock his leg, I came out from behind my car and said "what the hell do you think you are doing" in a confrontational manner, sorry but I was fuming. He never walked passed our pitch again.

Second was a group of people having a get together, wonderful fun, but when the Golf GTI doors were opened to allow music to take over the site, I lost my sense of humour. Walked straight over to the group, passed many other perturbed campers, and nicely asked them to turn the music off or down, a late twenties lad got up, said sorry and turned it off. I walked back to our pitch to thanks from many of my fellow campers.

The third one was the funniest. A gent who appeared to be on his own and to who I had been chatting to earlier, decided that the whole site liked his blend of Jazz music, and had it blasting out of his car in the early evening. I strolled up to him and in a raised voice, due to the music, asked him if he liked ACDC, the bloke similar age to me, mid fifties, said good god no, I then pulled out my favourite cd from my shorts ACDC Live at River Plate, he looked me up and down, turned his music off and said "Fair enough mate" and offered me a glass of red.

All the anecdotes were in France, and all were Brits.

I wouldn't let your rugby playing mates know you go around asking strange blokes those sort of questions, they may get the wrong idea!

We were at a campsite for a concert a few years ago, pitched the caravan as directed by stewards, and went away for the day.

Came back to find a muppet in a motorvan had seen the gap next to our caravan and decided that was the best spot for his motorvan. The look of confusion on his face when we asked where he thought we should park our Land Rover seeing as how he was pitched at 5 feet from our caravan door!

That was bad enough but, as it was just a farm field, there were no hook-ups so, after the concert, we get back and find he's running the world's loudest generator! Raging.

Never mind, we made plenty of noise early the next morning as we packed up and moved off. There had been lots of rain so we were keen to get away before the field was completely churned up and we did manage. Have to confess to feeling a little wicked when we saw that his big motorvan had sunk almost to the axles overnight. We did wonder how long it took him to get out of there but maybe next time he'd pitch more considerately...

People walking through pitches as a short cut is so annoyingly rude! Happened to us recently, by the same group who had little respect for our pitch privacy, yet seemed to have their own pitch set up like fort knox with windbreaks galore I didn't want to cause a drama, but I did shout RUDE at one point, which just fell on deaf ears I really hope the 30 seconds they gaines via walking through our pitch was useful to them
