Theres a couple at Hardy Barn just up road from me, thats got a Land Ranger, they have had the van from new and it still looks great.
Fantastic van, but at the time back in them days we where bringing the youngs one up, and could not budget for one.

I think you are missing out on a major point about 4x4s. They tend to be much lower geared and consequently have a lower top speed. However this is a great advantage when towing. As an example, one 2 litre car I had would do over 130mph, but in bottom gear its lowest crawl speed was 11mph. Towing at less than that in heavy slow traffic would soon result in a burnt out clutch. My present 2.2 litre 4x4 will crawl along at an easy walking pace.
