Or,if you have a single CBE 12v socket, replace with a double fitting to add a USB outlet, as you already have a 12v supply and ground handy.
Have you any knowledge of the parasitic current drain this places on the 12 volt system when not actually charging?
That is an issue that has put me off doing that as introducing an isolating switch for when it is not in use, rather spoils the simplicity of going that route.
Thanks.
When the 12v system is powered down at the PSU, the USB ports are dead. When powered up, the double USB I fitted has 2 small blue LEDs that are lit all the time (but normally covered by the dust cover. I guess there is a minute drain for those.
If you don't fancy this then a simple USB adapter pushed into the caravans existing 12v socket will work to- this is what I use in the cars
I always charge my phone using the caravans 12v, I just plug the 2 pronged pin in with the female cig lighter bit on the other end and then put the car charger in it, leave for a few hrs and its done! mind you I do have a solar charger aswell for my phone which also helps when out and about, never had it go flat on me yet!

I use a 75watt plug in inverter and mains charger. probably not the most efficient way to do it but it's what i've done for 10 years with no problem, even caravanning off grid for 4 nights at New Year. I always find when i use a 12v charger it takes ages. With the inverter you can also use a bank plug and charge 2 or 3 at a time if you have the mains chargers, with 5 of us in the caravan it saves a lot of arguements to do it this way.

Hi, as we are new to caravaning could you tell us is it easy to park off grid and is there anywhere you recommend please, thanks.
Hi. You can't usually just park off grid, as wild camping isn't legal in England. Most C&CC or CC rallies will be off grid. Otherwise, you can of course go to any campsite and just don't have hook-up.

Use some of the C&MC or C&CC CL/CS sites (5 caravans only) or rallies, temporary holiday sites.
This C&MC basic CL was £6 a night, all we need is a water tap and toilet empty point. This CL is just outside York, plenty others around the UK, but you will need to join one of the 'clubs'
