Read the good advice on this thread. Any insurance payout would not reflect the amount you have spent only average value little more than a grand I would think. Say nought & enjoy your caravan. For what you have spent on it you should get another 10yrs out of it.
Why is any checking neccesary? Why does it matter what year the caravan is? Why not just get on & use the caravan? The op needs to stop trying to make life more difficult for themselves. Or perhaps the op has heeded this advice already?
My car is 'International Security Register' registered with numbers etched on all windows, didn't know caravans were registered other than CRIS. I'm with Opensauce, cancel the CRIS visit, give the storage people the VIN off your car (would they know the difference) or make one up, would they physically check? Just use it and enjoy.
My daughter put her aged caravan in storage, the form asked for the insurance details. She made it all up and nobody has ever checked, it doesn't even have the same number on the back as she changed tow car!

We bought the van for a grand in 2012. The work we have had done and done ourselves includes fitting the motor mover. That's all in with the 3 grand it's cost us. We love the van as we feel over the last six years we've personalised it to our own needs. We have only recently realised that there is a problem with it because we have moved storage providers and increased the insurance cover and they wanted the vin number, which is when we realised that we have a problem.
So what's the problem with the vin number? And how did you find out that there could be a problem with it?
For whatever reason you seem to be ignoring all the good advice you have been given, if it has no identifying numbers how can anyone prove it is theirs, stop fretting over what I think is nothing and just use it and enjoy it
Like others have said, just get out there and enjoy all your hard work, and stop worrying about it. If it had been stolen, which is highly unlikely, everyone would have stopped looking for it years ago, and nobody could identify it now anyway.
I had a car stolen back in 2009. It was an unusual vehicle and easily identifiable, but the police stopped looking for it after 2 weeks! They told me that they were doing so "due to lack of evidence" It never did turn up.
