I obtained a guest number from my chum. Even with that, the Brittany Ferry price was undercut by the Caravan Club so I went with them.
Friend of mine - likewise, CC was cheaper than the discount available.
My trip is booked to St Malo and back with a c'van including cabin. CC site wouldn't give me my date to start with but suddenly it opened up so I assume I found a cancellation. I think the club has only a few booking options. Cost £505 out late May back early July.
Well I am no longer an associate member, BF have given me my own number and next year I will have to pay full membership price. Associate membership is finishing this year.

All about money, though. Our new tow car is about 350mm taller than the previous one, although in the same rating for length. although significantly lower than the caravan height, it adds £60 to our return fare on the Sty Malo run. Bet lots of caravaners get penalised like that.
Bertie.
I don't think that is quite correct. Our caravan is 3m high and if the car is lower than the 3m even with a roof box it makes no difference. This I was told by Brittany Ferries last year when I queried it as we had a roof box fitted.
However if you do it all Online then you are correct you are penalised. We did it Online and then phoned in and got the reduction. Same applied to length as doing it Online we were over 13m in length adding on about £60 however the true length was under 13m.
Next time after doing the booking Online phone in and tell them the height of the caravan and the height of the vehicle. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I rang and queried if it would cost extra because I had a roof box, they said I wouldn't but when the Invoice arrived I had been charged!

Someone may have got it wrong and you should have queried it if the car with the roof box was lower than the caravan. Normally when they amend a booking you get the amendment in your mail box within minutes.
I did tell them that the caravan was higher than the car plus the box,on reflection I think what the additional charge was for was an amendment to the booking.

If done through CC you would be correct. As we are Club Voyage members there is no charge.

I am a Club Voyage member but if you amend your booking by telephone they charge.

We have never been charged for an amendment however this is because we are registered as disabled and you cannot do the amendment Online so I apologise as I forgot about that issue.
However having said that if the amendment is due to their website, how can they charge you? Also if it saves you £30 or more quid, the phone call is the cheaper option even if you pay for the amendment provided the amendment costs less than £25.
I also have limited mobility and notify them but don't need a wheelchair,I just can't manage stairs.
When I queried if there was a supplement to pay for the roof box I was told no but they sent me a new invoice with the extra added on.
Unfortunately thanks to BT/Open Reach I was unable to access any emails till shortly before my departure and didn't check the amount charged,by the time I discovered it I had too many other things to sort out and didn't bother to query it.
