I don't live far from Doncaster. Went to Cornwall last year and stopped at a very nice little site just off the M5 (approx less than 5 mins) at Burnham on sea. Greenacres place it was called. Very reasonable price, small but more than adequate for a stopover. Local for shops and fuel and take aways

Thanks for the ideas and I’m sure they will help others in a similar situation.
My issue is we are tied to school holidays. We have 1 week off school. We are booked into our site Saturday to Saturday. Realistically we’d struggle to be on the road before 5pm and with traffic on a Friday night it would take hours to get from Doncaster and past Bristol. Too late to arrive at a site for sure. I was looking at breaking the back of the journey and pulling in somewhere (not a campsite) late on. I don’t think there are any decent options so I’m leaning to setting off at the crack of dawn Saturday morning instead.
Are you Caravan Club members? there is a CL called Woodlands near Worcester where I'm sure if you made prior arrangement you could arrive late and pay in the morning. There must be others too.
We are in Leicestershire. When we go down to Cornwall we make a one-night stop over at the CAMC Cadeside site near to Wellington in Somerset. It is just off the M5 and an easy drive to and from the motorway.
It is a low amenity site with only 16 pitches (all hardstanding), and we find it necessary to book well ahead.
Bertie.
We travel to Cornwall each year on a Friday, leaving at around 7 from Nottingham and schedule a stop off at Taunton Deane Services.
Plenty of space, Lots of other caravans stop over, reasonably quiet and costs about £24 for parking, but you also get an £8 voucher which we use towards breakfast.
Petrol station is easy to get in and out of too which is a bonus.
We go Saturday nìght at 6.00pm, no traffic problems, stop for a break at strensham, then stay overnight at sedgemoor services, start off around 9am for a nice easy run to destination, for us it's 2 journeys of around 3 hours each with little traffic so no stress, apart from the rip off at sedgemoor I enjoy the journey
