and that is what im trying to get the poster to double check on, using the info off his vin plate rather than off online means and I can assure you that an antara is no where near 2400kgs fully loaded!
Although you can work with the car Gross vehicle weight and the van's MTPLM for licence purposes, you also need to look at the car Gross train weight being the maximum allowable combined weights of car and van.
This may not be the same as adding the 2 individual maximum weights.

Hi Grove Family,
Can you let us know what your test involved please and how you had to prepare for it?
Thanks
Hi Jack. I had my assessment on Friday so went through it all.
It roughly hitching and un-hitching the trailer, independant driving where they say for example head towards birmingham, and you have to follow the signs yourself. Driving with them telling you where to go. Reversing and a few questions.
Its all on the dvla website to be fair. seems ok, just got to remember to check mirrors etc.
my test is next wednesday so will let you know how i get on and what you have to do.
We switched from Pennine to caravan three years ago ... not regretted it, despite the odd moment of nostalgia ... but the sheer speed of setting up with a caravan is sheer bliss ... especially for short stays.
Hi Kelper.
That was prob the biggest selling point for me. We were on a site and the inlaws decided to join us for a couple of nights. where it would take me say 45mins to be set up, within 10 they were sorted. my only downside that i can see is making and unmaking the beds. but i believe the ease of it all will out weigh all that.
I failed for speeding!!!! for doing 35 on a dual carriageway that i thought was a 40, but alas, it was a 30!
Ive booked a retest and luckily ive got a cancellation for Monday morning!
Just another £115 and the £60 for the trailer etc that its costing me!!!!
The test was basically the reverse parking 1st, unhitching and rehitching, then the 'tell me, show me' questions. After that it was the normal driving including being told where to go and independant driving following signs including the pulling away from the side of the road etc.
If it wasnt for the grumpy examiner whom could of let me off with a warning im sure, i would be passed. but so it is.
Are they making you do the whole test again including reversing, hitching etc that you've already shown yourself to be competent in? Surely it would be enough just to repeat the section of the test that you failed?
But then again I suppose that wouldn't generate as much revenue for the government to waste on messing up Brexit now, would it ...
As you say that's how it is. Better luck on Monday!
