Note it will be quite expensive to wire in a 13 pin socket or the additional 7 pin grey socket. The reason is that they have to run two heavy duty cables from the car battery (normally at the front of the car) to the rear. This generally involved a lot of trim removal which is very time consuming.

Don't know why it should. I made my own tow electrics and ran the heavy cable under the car to the back, cable-tied to various points on the underframe. That was the easiest part of the job. From there it could be taken in any direction including up into the car, but in my case to a waterproof box of electronics as in this photo, the heavy supply cable being one of those coming in from the top.
I hate having to remove interior trim, it never goes back looking quite the same.

Not necessarily. Many cars have the battery in the boot today and often a fuse box there too, which
makes the job easy.
