Thanks John and Romany. We will try the dog lead or cord first to see how we get on with it before splashing out £25. We are not fit youngsters we are oap's and the awning we have bought is a little bigger and heavier because the material is thicker too. We will see how we get on with it.
I have a Kampa 500 air awning & have a real issue with the awning bead jumping out of the awning rail when pulling through with the dog lead method,
The Kampa pulley allows me to feed with one hand & pull with the other, works well for me

Also remember as it's a pulley system the load, effort to pull the awning through the rail, is reduced significantly. Not so with the dog lead method.

The benefit of the pulley is that it pulls directly in line with the channel, without any forces pulling bead away from the channel, so if there is a tendency for bead to pop out of channel when pulling by hand, the pulley may overcome that.

And the extra pulling power is the reason you have to be careful not to do damage, as for the beading jumping out I have had that happen on all three methods feeding in and pull direction are important which is where the pulley system may be better, the longer the pull cord or lead the better angle/pull direction you can get.
Good luck how ever you end up doing it

Sorry should of made myself clearer,
it is the bead feeding in the rail that has a tendency to pop out rather than the end that I am pulling along,
the pulley itself does not help with this but me being able to feed it in does
Thank you all for your comments. Considering all the comments and the ones about the dog lead will have decided to bit the bullet and buy one. It will arrive tomorrow. We go away on the 12th July for 5 nights and we ill try it out then. I will post comments on here to let you know how we got on with it. Thanks again everybody for all if your help.

Look forward to hearing how you get on with it. As has been stressed on here, some form of silicon along the awning rail makes ALL the difference. I said in another posting that I use a spray on furniture polish (contains those all important silly cones) Spray it on a tissue or cloth and wipe into the awning channel, when preparing caravan at start of season. I can then stand at side of caravan and push the awning into the rail and slide it all the way from there. Only a porch awning of course, not full awning.
The advice about using silicone spray is spot on and before applying it use an awning rail brush. It's surprising how much crud and spiders collect in there.
John
We will be trying it out when we go away on one a short break in just over a weeks time. We do have an awning rail spray so will definitely use it. I will post how we get on with it. Thank you all again for your comments.
We did buy the Kampa easy awning pulley. We thought it was great. My husband fed it in the rail and I pulled and it went up easily with no problems. A lady on the site came over to ask about it because she was impressed by how easily it went up.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Glad you found it easy to use but having your feedback and watching the YouTube video I have just been out bought myself one the weekend. Hopefully I'll get to try it out for the first time in September.
