Both me and the wife are in our mid 30s both work full time. Her a teacher and me driving HGV. Our intention once we're up and running is to go away a couple big full weeks a year. One summer and we like going away either Easter or the autumn half term. Then odd weekends as time allows.
I'm happily fairly financially stable so can enjoy a certain amount of freedom, so we get away a lot it usually starts with shall we have a few days away the latest was supposed to be three days in wales with eldest son and grandchildren beginning of August it ended up with a bit of a tour around south west wales around Cornwall some of Devon got home this last weekend and I'm already getting itchy feet.
we use a mixture of wild camping and cheap farm sites so keeping the cost down, I don't have time issues as life is far to short not to do what you want if you can afford to

We have our caravan sited and try and get away most weekends and some weeks throughout the season. We are just about to move to a site that's open all year so intend to use it more. We are lucky in that we don't work weekends so can get away. My husband retires in 18 months and I hope to go part time so will be even more flexible. I have toured and sited but use the van more when sited and find it cheaper overall. It is also easier to take the grandkids. We've had a rough 3 years and the caravan is what kept me sane.
I work from home all the time at the moment and my other half works Mon-Thursday lunch so we have been getting away nearly every weekend since lockdown was lifted as I can login from the caravan.
it does help that my caravan is stored on a site so there is no issue towing somewhere and having to set everything up
Why don’t you try a seasonal pitch within an hour from home, you can still take and use the caravan for holidays away but it will be all’ set up for a weekend or even 1 night away, you also don’t have to leave by lunchtime on a Sunday.
We have a motorhome and a static and use the motorhome less for weekends now as I find it easier to pop to the static and make the most of a full weekend, sometimes I even stay Sunday night and drop the kids straight to school from the static.
