I always put a small padlock through 1 front and 1 rear clip instead of an S clip or whatever they are called for added safety, in case the vibration etc dislodges or breaks a clip, may be overkill but better safe than sorr in my opinion

i didnt see that last night but it rings a bell from a post a long time back on here, was it somewhere around london m25 area? possibly kent? i remember someone coming on here with a conway tardis and they had a problem on the motorway with the roof coming off turned out it was a problem with the clips on the side had come loose and the wind had just caught it and lifted the whole lot off

I don't think the one on TV the other night was a Conway: what was left of it had a window in the back. A Conway would be either a trailer tent or a folding camper? Therefore there wouldn't be a window in the bodywork of it; the window would have been in the canvas part of it. It could have been a very old Gobur, difficult to tell as it had been painted blue.

Anyway, a scary experience, not just for thee owner but for any unfortunate following traffic!

kpnuts good plan using a padlock front and back to secure the roof of your Clubman. The clips I had on my previous Goburs were spring clips so I felt they'd be fairly secure, but I did start using a padlock on the front end after a while, just in case....

Thanks for that Mike, but I don't do Facebook....

Someone was telling me the other day I was missing out on a lot but I'm not a huge fan of the way FB operates, so guess I will have to continue missing out.
