David

According to Calor you can swap a Lite for standard 6Kg or 3.9Kg. https://shop.calor.co.uk/gas-bottles/calor-lite.html

Always used to be a case of swap any cylinder within it's group for another within same group under Calor rules, that said not unknown for dealers to impose their own 'rules' rightly or wrongly!

I mentioned on an earlier post about the possibility of replacing my Calorgas cylinder with the Cadac triple aerosol cylinder pack.
But somebody pointed out the connector going to your trailer or caravan regulator needs changing from the one supplied. However if you were able to find a way,I did spot a cheaper supplier than Amazon, selling the pack at a discount for £35.Does anyone know the cost of adapting it to fit?
I'm also looking at the alternative of buying either 4.5 or 5kg Flogas cylinders(my gasbox wont allow a bigger cylinder)The 5kg version is very light but costs £50 for an exchange,as opposed to £38 for the 4.5.
I guess finding regular sized cylinders is the answer if you use a lot of gas.But if you're like me and pay for electric hookup that runs your lights,tv,fridge and heating, then your gas is really only for cooking on the hob, which uses very little.Hence my idea of the conversion pack.
Still not sure which option to go for yet.It all depends on the cost of setting up.I will see how much Flogas quote for supplying a cylinder and regulator, plus availability, compared to setting up a disposable cylinder converter with readily available cylinders

No you can't.
It's illegal for a start and it would need a special adaptor.

The £38/£50 is not the exchange/refill fee, it's the one off cylinder rental fee! The trick is DON'T pay the cylinder charge to Flogas, look in local small ads, ebay, FB marketplace, Freegle etc. for a S/H cylinder! I got mine for free from Freegle, but usually plenty around for only a few pounds. You do NOT need any paperwork to exchange a cylinder for a refill at a stockist, just the empty cylinder in the correct group. See the Flogas web site for the cylinder groups.

Lots of stockists for Flogas (they claim more outlets than Calor!), so no need to deal direct with them, I got my 5Kg Gaslight refill in May from local B and M Store for slightly under list price, with no market volatility surcharge, no delivery fee, total cost around £32 IIRC. ... and I swapped an empty 10Kg for a full 5Kg.

Looking at using our barbecue flogas gaslight 10kg cylinder in place of 2 x 6kg calor bottles. Lighter and loads of gas. I think the taller bottle should fit in our new caravan when it arrives. Does this gas light bottle only require a new clip on connector to go on the exiting hose any idea?
Thanks!

Yes! New connector needed, but when I did mine, I replaced the hose as well.
Have a look HERE, not expensive and the caravan hose was near out of date anyway.

The most commonly available 27mm clip on adaptors fit a standard BUTANE hose, not the standard POL type Propane hose which will almost certainly be supplied with van. Assuming 'new' van is new and will have a bulkhead regulator!

Two options, simply swap the Propane pigtail for a Butane one, or obtain a Butane-Propane hose adaptor. Personally I'd go for the Butane pigtail, as less joints and therefore less potential leaks, plus hose is about same price as adaptor, so no cost benefit in adaptor!

Not tried a 10Kg cylinder in my locker (2016 Lunar 524), but by measurement should JUST about fit with some jiggling into place! Only concern is pigtail hose 'may' have a dip in it (which is not considered good as liquid gas and contaminating 'oils' can accumulate in dip!) or even run down (bad for same reasons as dip), rather than continuous smooth upward run to bulkhead regulator. Won't know until I try, but certainly a close run thing!

Thanks for replies! Yes I see the 10kg cylinder is taller so point taken about lpg pooling in a dip. I guess you could zip tie the hose to get a straight run - well maybe, it depends, I suppose.

I have 2 x 10kg Flogas (BP Gaslight) bottles in my 2012 Bailey Pegasus. Plenty room, although a little fiddly to get in.

You can exchange lite for standard with no charge. We’ve had real trouble sourcing 6kg Propane this summer but changed to a 3.9kg which was available and is interchangeable at no cost with both lite and standard 6kg and has the same connector. It’s a lighter bottle (but obviously less capacity too) but it might help those struggling with standard bottles and payload issues. We’re back to 2 x 6 kg at the moment having exchanged the 3.9kg bottle when a 6kg became available.
