So what are the age related discounts ?
Bessie
the CCC ACR,"or age concession rate" gives members over age of 60 , a 25% reduction of pitch fees, but not in high season.
but the latest offers announced last week give more discounts, and some of those include high season ,but they only apply to certain sites, at certain
times, on certain pitches,
What a stupid concept, why from the age of 60 do you get a discount these should be open to everybody for the same times and dates regardless of age.
It’s funny because every time I go on a campsite it’s always people aged 60+ Ghat are driving round in 80 grand motorhomes the younger people with families Are usually in older caravans.
Bessie
There are always exceptions though. There are young people in my street driving brand new cars and pensioners like myself driving a 16 year old car towing a 32 year old caravan. It is probably true that many 80 grand motorhomes are driven by older people, but maybe the younger ones simply don't want that kind of holiday. They prefer to fly to the US or the far east. It is impossible to generalise. Not all pensioners are well off, far from it, nor are all younger people poor.
In any case, I have found that often we can find commercial sites cheaper than club sites, even with our pensioners' discount.

Colin

Your right Colin there always is so why not give the midweek out of season discount to everyone, and those with pre school aged kids can also benefit, I’m
Sure many young families are struggling just as much if not more than some pensioners.

I'd have no problem with that but I'm not sure how much that would benefit many young families, as a lot of them can't go mid-week as they are working. I'm judging by my own family, I have two daughters and a son, and I also have two granddaughters who have pre-school kids. None of them are well off.
Wealth and poverty aren't really age related, there are rich and poor in all age groups. However, anyone on state pension alone has a considerably lower income than someone who works 40 hours a week on minimum wage. The British state pension is an absolute disgrace. It is probably by far the lowest in the developed Western world. Even some so-called third world countries have higher (comparative) pensions than Britain.

G winger says that the discount is in
Low and mid season, to me that is June and September, which is usually far better weather than august, if the discount is applied to all members plenty of people without kids could also benefit from these prices which in turn can push the clubs revenue up.
The Uk is ranked 16 out of 30 in pensions, but is still above the fresh hold for the cost of living (only just) Spain being ranked top at almost 4 times the cost of living but that’s the maximum you can get based on salary in your working life and a minimum of 37 years paying in, no 2 is Belgium where you have to work for 45 years, were currently working to 67 now and our kids will be working in their 70’s can you imagine what age we’d have to work to to get the same pension as Spain it would equate to £38500 per year per person, we’d be skint within a year.

Looking at the member section of the website, there is also a discount at certain times of the year for families, another for midweek camping and another for grass only pitches. So, perhaps not quite as stupid a concept, but one designed somewhat to suit different groups of members. Not sure of the final details of those offers as I have never bothered to study them. The only one of interest to me is the acr.
