Still not sure what the exact model is but I might be getting rid anyway as the damp is more extensive than I first thought

It's a 1992 Elddis Wisp 450CT. Great caravan, and in my opinion probably better built that many newer ones, and I'm judging that on the fact that some people on here with caravans decades newer than mine seem to be having more problems than we have had with ours. It's not perfect, in fact last year I had to do some serious repairs to the woodwork round the front windows, but then it is 32 years old.

I was told it's a 1980 caravan but that's all they could tell me about it

I'm thinking it could be later than 1980 due to the windows. I can't remember exactly when metal-framed glass windows disappeared and double glazed plastic windows took over.

from memory i think it was around 1993 definately not a 1980s caravan tho due to the plastic wondows

Definitely before 1993, as the one we have now is 1992 and the one we had before it was 1988 and they both had plastic windows. The one we have now is also CRIS marked. I'm guessing that the metal-framed windows finally went out in the mid-1980s.

The caravan is a CI Sprite XL from about 1990 (give or take a year).

The CRIS registration system referenced earlier in this thread was introduced in 1992 and required the number to be etched into the windows. I suspect your caravan pre-dates it.

CI caravans used a unique chassis numbering system, which was included on a small metal plate by the bottom of the door. I can't see from the photo if it's still there on yours but if so, there'll be an initial letter followed by a load of numbers, but the first two will indicate the year of manufacture (e.g. A90 = 1990).

CI caravans were taken over by Swift in about 1994. The 'Sprite' brand lives onto this day but in name only.
