hi i have had a shogun same as pajero and 4 disco's a n izzusu tropper 3.1

now i have a ford explorer 4ltr v6 and i used to tow for a living with them all

( 100,000 miles a year )   bar the explorer and the izzuse was the best tow

car i have ever used

if i was looking to replace my explorer it would have to be a big horn 3.1

Hi btwellz.............I got a Toyota HiLux Surf 3 ltr in May...similar to the one Clarkson tried to destroy on 'Top Gear'and failed. It's very comfy and pulls like a dream. Have a look on ebay..they are rather cheap.

Wouldnt touch another Trooper again for a gold pig.  The one we had was trouble from day one - pouring out oil everywhere - the dratted vehicle rapidly became a money pit.  In fact we dropped it after 6 months still having Strouds 12 month warranty on it and a loss of £3k.  Me and him almost divorced over the darned thing.  There were so many clauses in their Warranty it was laughable (but thats another story).  The 2.7 Nissan Terrano we changed it for, we couldnt fault.  Never let us down, never cost us any money for repairs.  We only changed it because it did run out of puff on the hills with this Abbey.

The Mazda we now have is a cracker.....blooming thirsty though!

I tow with a Trooper 3.1 with 150k on the clock, solid as a rock and will pull all day, you will have to use the gears on the hills (but my van does weigh in at 1450kg plus 2 large adults 3 kids and 2 large dogs in it)

Been looking at these for a while now-I know we will end up with a bigger van sooner rather than later :)

Theres a couple of 4x4 centres in Stourport so having a trip out in a bit.

Anything I should be really looking for on the Pajero's?

Never have been mad keen on auto's, most seem to be-what are the advantages/disadvantages or should I hang out for a manual?

Love the exceeds the trim levels look superb-after all we all need toys

our tow car got written off hubby had an accident in it [not his fault] 22/05/06 it was his pride and joy granada scorpio cosworth auto it did tow well. however as we had planned to go away that weekend [B/H] and his ins. company would only provide an economy car the other parties ins.co. provided us with a cr-v great tow vehicle i felt safer towing with that so the search was on for a 4 X 4 i test drove {hubby couldnt right arm in plaster from accident} jeep cherokee, free lander, range rover and a ford explorer we are now the proud owners of a 1999 ford explorer brill to drive not towed with it yet lovingly nicknamed "the beast" i havent driven my micra since we got it
