Like others, we have had the extremes.

Waking up in the middle of January with snow on the ground is a thrill. Packing up 3 days later when it has all turned to wet slush is no fun.

We have spent a a samll fortune on the van and equipment, having it laid up for 6 months of the year was never going to be an option.

The standard of most hardstandings and sites today is excellent. Make the most of your investment.

We are away just now in our van, having a brill time but heck the flies etc coming in yuk we don't have that problem in Winter we just love to get a good DVD a nice meal and bottle of wine, even the dogs wake up later in Winter so a nice lay in, in a cosy bed bring it on.

Insulate outside pipe work and containers. Get a decent all weather awning. Make sure gas appliances are serviced. Brilliant time, meet brilliant people, quiet campsites and no lager louts!

We go all year round too. We went away for the last New Year in the snow and as we were getting setup the temp was -10, the awning pegs were sticking to Jons bare hands it was that cold - but it all makes for a fun and memorable weekend!

As long as you take precautions you can caravan all year round. Propane instead of Butane, etc..

Until we found this website, come october the van would be laid up for the winter. Since attending our first ever meet (New Year at wrenbury) a couple of years ago we look forward to the "quieter" time of the year. Apart from xmas and NY the sites that do stay open all year are quieter and more than likely the "rif-raf" (hello briarose...lol) stay at home.

We would thoroughly recommend the UKCS meets as an introduction into all year caravaning. Look up the threads (topics) for your local area and see if anything takes your fancy. You will be given a warm welcome !!!

Hi Mick N Gill what a great time we had hey, am def planning on being away this NY can't bear the thoughts of being stuck at home yuk.

The only thing I wish with Winter was that they wouldn't put the blooming clocks back it would be so much better light until 5 ish, anyone fancy taking Tony Blair on to pass a new bill

We have been away for the last 2 New Years now, I wouldn't stay at home if I could help it, our blue gas never froze in that snow pictured above even though it was outside (doesn't fit in locker) though others did!! Mudfest in Feb was more difficult to cope with but we stuck it out though I think it was more to do with the company tbh, if we were on our own we would have gone home!! Feb last year in Salisbury was the coldest, my chicken salad froze solid in the fridge but the gas didn't !
