i asked why?she said its in the contract if not used for 90 days we switch off.i said what about my £7 calls, she did not answer.i kept this phone in the car for breakdowns with the car or caravan, charged up each trip and money enough to call for help.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Sounds like a great idea mate, and so simple too, but as you say it's a case of finding a mobile phone service provider who will not switch off your line if the phone is not used in a year or so....I too have had the same with Vodafone on more than one occasion, they have the same daft 90 day rule even if you have a fair chunk of credit on it!
Maybe some other members could come back on this with information on networks who as long as you have some calling credit will not cut you off for non-use, even if it's a year or two?
I had a Phantom tracker fitted as well, did not think it was that expensive, they do two options, one at £400 and one at £500. £100 per year for monitoring. After all, you are protecting a sizeable investment, I know ours ending up costing us best part of £15000 after all the bits and pieces had been purchased. Take into account the discounts you can get off your insurance, did ours with CaravanGuard, and I honestly think that the tracker is good value for money. And, if you are a Camping and Caravan Club member you can get some freebies as well
